On Thursday-Saturday, due to heavy rains, New York City suffered from flash flooding — in a few hours it was recorded about 180 mm of rainfall! The floods resulted in evacuations of people, blocked roads, canceled flights and trains, and numerous rescue calls.
By the grace of G-d, no injuries have been reported.
Heavy flooding was reported in New York City, Long Island and Bergen, Rockland and Westchester counties. Calls for evacuations were also heard in Brooklyn and Queens.
In just a few hours, Brooklyn received the rainfall it had received in 8 months! The governor of New York declared a state of emergency. About 1,000 flights were canceled or delayed.
According to the available information, millions of New Yorkers were affected by the flooding.
The subway was flooded in many locations, some stations were shut down, and some trains were flooded with water while moving!
Despite the damage to infrastructure and property, and thanks to numerous rescue operations, there were miraculously no casualties.
Flooding also occurred in the state of Jalisco in western Mexico, where the officials reported, “The flooding was caused by heavy and unusual rains that made the river overflow its banks and flood one of the areas of the country, causing significant damage to dozens of buildings.”
Floods also occurred in Guatemala. An official report stated that there were dead and missing people due to flooding in the capital of the country. Authorities in Guatemala, as well as Mexico, also said that the floods began after heavy rains.
It is said in Tehillim (93:2): “The rivers have raised, O G-d, the rivers have raised their voice; the rivers have raised their depths.” The RADAK comments that this song refers to the Days of Moshiach.
The Rebbe RAYATZ explains that the stormy rivers will bring great changes to this world. They may flood an entire country or a large part of it, which will result in a great change in human minds, which will be expressed in the fact that people will see this as a punishment of the Almighty and will start to correct their behavior.
